Duke NY Book Club

Join other Blue Devils every other month in discussing a new book, from the classics to the latest best sellers.  Bring your thoughts, ideas and opinions on the latest selection. Duke NY Book Club meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. at The Cornell Club - New York (Tap Room), 6 East 44th Street between Fifth and Madison Avenues.

This month we will be discussing, Eating Animals by Jonathan Saggfrom Foer on September 13th.

Volunteer in a Soup Kitchen

Help staff the soup kitchen and feed the hungry on Sunday, August 28th, at St. John the Divine, Amsterdam Avenue at 112th Street. Call Cuyler Christianson at (212) 245-2161 (w) for details. Volunteer in New York

Volunteering for Duke in your community is a great way to support your university.  You can make a difference for Duke by taking a leadership role right where you live, and, in the process, you have the opportunity to expand your personal and professional network.

Local volunteer activities range from interviewing prospective students  as part of the Alumni Admissions Advisory Committee in your area (AAAC) to participating in community service events to hosting parties. You can even make a donation to subsidize a local program.

DukeGEN NYC: 7th Multi-city Networking Event

Join DukeGEN on Wednesday, August 3, 7:00 p.m. at Eamonn's of Brooklyn (in TriBeCa) where we will be hosting NYC's 7th DukeGEN multi-city networking event! Duke alumni, students, faculty, staff, parents, and invited guests --- get out your business cards!

The goal of Duke Global Entrepreneurship Network is to be a sophisticated and active network that helps create debate, dialogue, and lucky encounters between Duke entrepreneurs. We are providing the energy and coordination to encourage Duke entrepreneurs, around the globe, to connect and increase their chances of success.

5th Westchester Fishing and Fireworks Cruise

Ship ahoy with fellow DCNY anglers for an evening fishing and fireworks extravaganza on Friday, July 29. We will cast off at 6:00 p.m. SHARP aboard the 60-foot Shamrock IV from Neptune Park in New Rochelle (Westchester County), and again test the waters of Long Island Sound in hopes of finding another bluefish frenzy such as the ones we have experienced in previous years. At 9:00 p.m., we will anchor off Playland Amusement Park in Rye, NY for a spectacular view of the Friday night pyrotechnics before returning to the New Rochelle dock at 10:00 p.m.  Cost is $65 for DCNY members and $75 for others.
